QHS Art Contest Information

Due to a crazy schedule this year (report cards, Easter/Spring break and the Art Show all weeks apart) we were not able to work on entries for the Queens Historical Society's Art & History Contest during art class times. We've had quite a few students win in previous years, so fingers cross we have some more this time around! If you are in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade and would like to participate here's the info you'll need:

- Choose a historical site that is located in the borough of Queens! This could be any building, bridge, park, statue or attraction - as long is it is in Queens and has history to it you can use it. A good place to start would be looking at a list of NYC Landmarks in Queens.

- Draw it! Use 8 1/2" x 11" paper and any medium you'd like (pencil, crayons, markers, colored pencils, watercolor paints, etc.) as long as it remains two dimensional.

- Write about it! Do a little research and write a short paragraph about the history of the site you choose. Make sure to include why you picked this historical site.

Please hand-in to me your drawing, paragraph and $1.00 processing fee by Monday, April 9 (when we return from break!).
