Catholic Schools Week 2015

Happy Catholic Schools Week 2015!

Here at RA we're celebrating in a very special way, as this school year marks the 75th anniversary of Resurrection Ascension School! Each class will be decorating the halls with an element from the years 1939 and 1940. For art class, I created a timeline that highlights what was going on in the art world during 1939/40; this was a transistional period for the art world where notable art movements were coming to an end (Socialist Realism and Surrealism) and artists were starting to explore the world of abstract art, building up to the movement of Abstract Expressionism. The computer teach, Ms. Winter, Nursery teacher Ms. Danielle and myself worked on life-size Wizrd of Oz characters which will be hanging up throughout the school's halls; the moive opened during RA's first year and we've selected it to be our school-wide theme.

I would like to thank the 4th, 5th and 6th grade classes who helped me create some faux stained glass window decorations which will hang in each classroom. You should be able to see these beautifl works from anywhere outside the school - Woodhaven Boulvard, 61st Road and Eliot Avenue! They will certainly help to light up our school during Catholic Schools Week!
