Art Contest Winners!

Today was the award ceremony for the Queens Historical Society's 18th Annual Art & History Contest and we had three winners from our school! I had entered all of the stundets in third grade and encouraged the fourth and fifth graders to enter if they wanted to. Students had to pick a historical site in Queens to draw and write a short essay about it. Rosie recieved 3rd place and Aidan got 2nd place in the Third Grade category. Raffi won 1st place within the Fifth Grade category. It was so nice to see all three winner step-up to recieve their certificates and prizes, and even better that their family members were there to cheer them on! The speical guest speaker was Councilmember Daniel Dromm who helped to hand out the awards and spoke a little bit to everyone about his experience as a social studies teacher; even one of his studnets had even won this contest!
